Are you a highly motivated Software Engineer?Are you interestedinsupporting innovations to software engineering practicesacross the NAVAIR community?Then come aboard AMERICAN SYSTEMS as our next Acquisition Software Engineer As a Software Engineer you will: * Support a National Priority Program where no two days will be the same * Work with the latest, cutting edge technology * Provide creative solutions to complex problems * Work with a team of driven, supportive and highly skilled professionals. * Receive a robust benefits package that includes our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) A week in the life of a Software Engineer: * Establishes, shapes, ensures compliance and continuous improvement for software development and software sustainment policies and procedures. * Serves as a part of the government software acquisition management team on large complex software intensive weapon system programs. * Interact a wide diversity of software stakeholders. * Apply discipline of computer science or software development knowledge with minimum five years of experience in relevant job fields to support quality production of software on large complex software intensive weapons programs. * Plans, directs and manages research and development contracts for large software intensive programs to ensure requirement, design, implementation, integration, and testing to be aligned with program objectives and NAVAIR software engineering department process through the use of cutting edge software technology. * Coordinates the preparation of software technical specifications and statements of work, evaluates proposals, monitors and guides contractors' progress, and manages software technical solutions to ensure highly adaptable and resilient software design. * Manages software technical solutions to ensure highly adaptable and resilient software architecture and component design and apply knowledge of Agile software development process to manage software capabilities incrementally. * Exchanges information and viewpoints with other functional teams, private industry, and other government organizations. Job Requirements * Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required. * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering from a college program with ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.) certification. * At least five (5) years of software engineering experiencein all phases of the software engineering lifecycle * Strong skillsets in programming in C/C++ * Experience developing safety and mission critical software * Experience developing software for real time systems * Experience working within the acquisition life cycle and supporting processes. * Familiarity with DoD Directives 5000.01 and 5000.02 for supporting the management of acquisition systems. * Knowledge of acquisition approaches and artifacts to support life cycle events and milestones. The salary range for this position is $115,000-135,000 . Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
