Duties * You will analyze customer network security configurations to verify previously identified threats or vulnerabilities have been resolved. * You will analyze customer needs to determine which technologies are cost effective and beneficial. * You will develop network testing criteria to ensure that overall system logic and operation is correct. * You will configure network assets (e.g., servers, routers, switches, hubs, firewalls, peripherals, hardware, software, or similar assets) to sustain networksecurity. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 441 level (Intermediate) within 12 months of appointment. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. Qualifications I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1.Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Reviewing, evaluating and defining infrastructure requirements, selecting hardware and software components, coordinating network implementation planning, and overseeing testing and implementation of the design.2.Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Working with customers to identify and specify requirements and test applications.3.Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Coordinate with telecommunications contractors during Request for Quote (RFQ), award and installation.4.Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifies security risks and applies and manage information systems security certification and accreditation requirements. Employee must have knowledge of the Navy Marine Corps Infrastructure (NMCI) processes, architecture, and computer seat configurations. Employee must be able to communicate orally and in writing, their NMCI knowledge to upper management and across the nation, to key Information Technology (IT) personnel assigned to support 26 Navy Talent Acquisition Groups, a training detachment and Recruiting Headquarters. Employee, must have successful experiences managing IT projects and applying project management principles, methods, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, and managing projects and resources, including the assessment of technical performance. Employee must be able to impart the previously mentioned knowledge and skills into Recruiting's key IT support personnel, thereby helping to develop their competencies, so they may perform and contribute to the organizations success. Employee should conduct themselves, as to inspire and promote ongoing learning and feedback via formal and informal methods, helping Recruiting's IT support personnel to realize their highest potential. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Advising personnel on network security infrastructure; 2) Monitoring network performance to ensure compliance with network standards; 3)Installing, testing, and maintaining network security system hardware and software in accordance with requirements; and 4) Assist with analyzing and defining network requirements to design network architecture. A 40 hour work week is typical for this position. PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position requires both sedentary work at a desk for design, monitoring and configuration but also include the need for frequent movement and installation/relocation and remote management of equipment as necessary. Occasional travel may be required for schools, seminars, etc. Considerable time will be spent walking, climbing stairs, and on one's feet to perform the necessary work. WORK ENVIRONMENT
