Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) is looking for a Product Security Engineer (Mid-Level, Experienced, or Senior) to conduct research in the field of networking and cyber security. This position will focus on the development of new technologies to support mobile ad hoc networking, both on board and off board wireless and SATCOM networking environments. This position will involve leading and supporting: * Research projects to develop new concepts in tactical mobile ad-hoc network protocols, sensor protocols, airborne network overlays, or network management technologies * Proving the feasibility of new network technologies * Building of prototypes to demonstrate the feasibility of the technologies * Testing and evaluating research prototypes in relevant environments. This position will be focused on achieving successful technology transitions from the research environment to Boeing programs as well as to external customers. This position can be based out of Arlington, VA, Huntington Beach, CA or Hazelwood, MO. Position Responsibilities: * Develops, implements, and sustains product security and resiliency throughout the requirements, design, build, test, production, operations, and support lifecycle. * Develops and enhances system requirements and architectures for product security to meet all applicable certification and customer requirements. * Ensures security of facilities, equipment, tools, data, networks, and resources used for product: design, development, build, test, storage, delivery, operations, and support. * Defines and identifies product security requirements for suppliers of components and subsystems for integration into Boeing products and services. * Coordinates with governments, customers, suppliers, and industry to identify risks and improve industry and regulatory security standards and requirements for programs and interfacing systems. * Conducts research and development activities resulting in innovative solutions. * Advises customers on maintaining product security and certification, including security consequences of modifying products and services. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): * Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science * 3+ years of experience with network systems * 3+ years of experience with network protocols and/or routing table definition * Experience programming in C/C++, Python and shell scripting Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): * 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience * 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Experience with network systems programming and Linux kernel programming * Experience with network device drivers, routing protocols, transport protocols, network-oriented middleware, wireless or satellite networking systems, networking for embedded systems, tactical communications systems, network management, Software Defined Networking, Quality of Service, or traffic engineering * Excellent understanding of TCP (Transport Control Protocol) / IP (Internet Protocol) networks * Experience leading projects, interfacing with customers, and demonstrating an ability to deliver high quality implementation, testing, and documenting results * Experience working with leadership, peers, and internal and external customers to understand and drive requirements * Knowledge of real-time target environments, real-time software domains, real-time software architectures and design methodologies, and system hardware. Typical Education/Experience: Mid-Level (Level 3) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Experienced (Level 4) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Senior (Level 5) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
