Duties * You will serve as the Senior Engineer and Group Lead for Topside Aerodynamics and Integration and will lead the development, application, and sustainment of a broad range of aerodynamics capabilities across the branch. * You will lead research, analyses, modeling, simulation, experimentation, testing, and operation of various aerodynamic technologies, systems, and platforms. * You will be responsible for computational and experimental methods that include testing within facilities as well as in the field at remote testing sites and in sea trials on ships, vessals, or platforms. * You will manage, expand a database of ship topside aerodynamics models, test datasets, simulation datasets, associated ship/vessel deck motion datasets, topside geometries utilized for sea-based aviation technology development, and ship integration. * You will lead shipboard integration activities within the branch supporting various organizations for containerized-tethered elevated systems projects, serving as the Integrated Product Team lead for integration. * You will interface with program offices, sponsors, technical communities, and fleet personnel to formulate, propose, and execute a portfolio of projects. * You will be responsible for financial management and the implementation of Quality Management Systems and Technical Excellence Programs. * You will serve as a Senior Engineer and mentor across the branch and will be responsible for new and existing processes, technical capabilities, development of strategic plans or priorities. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower ND-04 ( GS-12/13 equivalency) pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional ENGINEER: leading or formulating technical projects to support the development, application, or sustainment of a broad range of aerodynamics for supporting the development of maritime mobility systems for an organization. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above) OR Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
