Spacecraft Mechanical and Thermal Engineer with Security Clearance

Description SAIC is looking for technical expertise in spacecraft Thermal Engineering. Member will be an integral participant in spacecraft requirements development, design analysis, and verification. Key areas of focus include thermal engineering, design, development, integration and test for MLI blankets, radiators/cryo-radiators, heat pipes, and thermal control processes. Coordinates activities with the spacecraft factory representatives to monitor key thermal subsystem assembly and test events such as thermal cycle and thermal vacuum tests and data analysis. Experienced in contamination control methodologies; the design, assembly, integration and tests of satellite buses with their subsystems and knowledgeable of launch & flight operations of space vehicles. Job Duties include: * Reviews and coordinates changes to specifications, ICDs, and system level requirements documentation for spacecraft * Tracks development issues and attends unit, subsystem, system level design reviews * Supports launch and spacecraft on-orbit test as required * Identifies and assesses emerging risks and develops & evaluates proposed burn-down plans * Reviews developer's readiness to proceed into spacecraft test at various levels of assembly * Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team * Experience in DoD IC acquisition and program management processes * Excellent oral and written communication skills Qualifications · 10+ years of experience · Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required · Experience with thermal control subsystems development and test · Experience with thermal analysis tools · Strong attention to detail · Excellent oral and written communication skills · Ability to work collaboratively with personnel from multiple functions and at all levels of the customer organization to deliver results; strong networking, interpersonal, customer service skills, team building and problem-solving skills with an ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment · Excellent Organizational skills, ability to plan, track and maintain due dates for multiple taskers and products central to customer acquisition processes SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
