Summary This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13. You will serve as an ENGINEER in the Naval Architecture and Engineering Department pf CARDEROCKDIV NS providing direct support to NAVSEA 05U on the VIRGINIA Class Technical Team (PMS 450T) of CARDEROCK DIV NS. Duties * You will service a Systems Integration Team (SIT) Leader and will assess risk for technical decision for mechanical, electrical and auxiliary systems for Virginia Class Submarines. * You will deliver detailed support/risk briefs to Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Deputy Ship Design Managers. * You will provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution for VIRGINIA class submarine systems. * You will assist with the development and implementation of programmatic documentation including ship and systems specifications, performance specifications, interface control documentation, and design decision documentation. * You will serve as technical lead representing PMS 450T and 05U2 with various activities and Program Offices as well as coordinating with Engineering Agents and Technical Authorities. * You will review technical data packages, drawings, reports, logistics products, training materials, and provide technical recommendations. * You will deliver formal presentations of engineering issues and concerns to the PMS 450 Program Manager and other senior officials on complex issues. Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-3 pay band (GS-09/11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer assessing ship design requirements to provide technical oversight and direction on resolution of ship or combat/weapon systems design, development, or integration issues to support the modernization or construction of naval vessels. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
