Duties * Serve as Lead Police Officer of subordinate police officers engaged in law enforcement duties on a major military installation. * Perform duties as Lead Police Officer and may be assigned for duty to the Desk Operations, Traffic Management and Collision Investigations, Investigations, Game Warden, Operations and Training or Administrative Section as directed by management. * Distribute and balance the workload among employees, ensuring timely accomplishment of duties. * Ensure all patrols are in compliance with organizational SOP, and holds subordinates responsible for accountability, care, and preventive maintenance of assigned property/equipment. * Serve as a criminal investigator with the responsibility for leading and conducting investigations of certain felony and most non-felony matters involving crimes against persons and property and in some instance. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Must pass periodic medical examinations and required physical agility tests. * Successfully pass Annual Physical Agility Test AR 190-56 (PAT). * Must meet established hearing and vision tests. * Must carry firearms. * Successfully qualify on assigned weapon(s) on an annual basis. * Must wear uniform. * Must obtain and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques. * Must know first aid. * Overtime may be required. * Emergency overtime may be required. * Requires rotating shifts. * Designated drug-testing program. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. * Possess a valid state driver's license. * Must have a working contact number and be able to be reached at all times. * Must pass a required certification program and must successfully complete an accredited law enforcement training academy, i.e., Federal, State, Municipal, Military that consisted of at least 400 classroom hours. * Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments and this position requires certification in the use of chemical aerosol irritants, Tasers, and Radar/Lidar speed detection devices. * Failure to maintain minimum standards as outlined in AR 190-56 and/or local policy may result in termination of employment. * 1996 LAUTENBERG Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 applies: Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crimes of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a range of law enforcement duties such as physical security; force protection functions; apprehending violators; access control; traffic law enforcement; game warden; conducting preliminary and/or ongoing investigations of incidents; issuance of citations; subduing disorderly persons; and/or maintaining order for protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
