ENGINEER/SCIENTIST with Security Clearance

Summary You will serve as a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) in the Weapons Systems Engineering Branch (Code 8521), Weapons Systems Division of the USW Weapons, Vehicles, and Defensive Systems Department at the NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI, located in Newport, RI. Duties * You will be responsible for the design and development of the Mk 48 Heavyweight and Mk 54 Lightweight Torpedoes configured for Foreign Military Sales. * You will provide the day-to-day technical expertise, direction and adjudication of technical issues necessary to execute tasking. * You will perform system engineering analyses to develop weapon performance specification, weapon interface specification, weapon systemdesign and weapon sub-systems performance and interface specifications. * You will develop and design solutions to torpedo system problems. * You will generate and execute test plans to verify and validate requirements, conduct troubleshooting and evaluate proposed solutions. * You will develop technical approaches for high level tasking, establishing detailed plans, estimating tasking costs and schedules. * You will posses a high degree of resourcefulness as required to meet restrictive time factors, to reconcile conflicting technical/programmatic requirements and to address emergent issues. * Professional Engineering Series (08XX) - Substitution of Education/Experience: A combination of education and experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: (a) professional registration, (b) evidence of successfully passing the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination; (c) successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified above; or (d) successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering provided that it included at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance.
