INTELLIGENCE RESEARCH SPECIALIST (GS-13) – OI – SKILLBRIDGE INTERNSHIP
This position is located within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Intelligence Enterprise (IE), and serves in a developmental capacity under the leadership and guidance of a higher graded specialist.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This opportunity is only open to active duty servicemembers who are at least 12 months from separation.
LOCATIONS: Washington, DC; Sterling, VA REQUIRED BASIC SKILLSET:
In order to fully support CBP border security operations, this position requires considerable knowledge of all but the most complex aspects of the CBP IE mission, functions, processes, policies, regulations, authorities, and partnerships including all of the following:
• CBP IE border security intelligence mission, and the use of both raw and finished intelligence production to support operations.
• CBP and DHS IE mission, programs and operations - and their functional relationship to the national intelligence priorities framework.
• CBP and DHS IE operational authorities and related border security laws, regulations, and policies.
• Intersection of the CBP mission and authorities with those of other federal agencies, state/ local/ territorial/ and tribal governments; and multi-agency collaboration for mission accomplishment.
• Critical thinking techniques and structured analysis methods required to mitigate bias; intelligence question validation processes; and critical reading techniques to review intelligence information.
• Criteria for determining information source reliability, and credibility of facts and estimates for application to a variety of CBP IE problems and functional areas.
• CBP, DHS and federal law enforcement systems and databases, and their content and application for intelligence production; knowledge of unclassified open-source information systems and databases and the navigation techniques used to gather and develop content for analytical products and briefings.
• IC systems, databases and message traffic at all levels of security classification used to gather and develop content for analytic products and briefings to provide situational awareness for decision makers and operators.
• Research tools, techniques and procedures used to support analysis and production of intelligence products, and establish the trends, patterns, and estimates that enhance situational awareness of decision makers and operators.
• Principles, rules, and regulations regarding the secure handling of classified information and products; and knowledge of derivative classification requirements.
• Steps and processes of intelligence preparation of the environment, prioritization of threats, and development of courses of action to counter those threats, close intelligence gaps and to execute intelligence initiatives in support of operations.
• Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats posed to CBP border security capabilities and capacity, including systems, processes and resources impacting border security. HOW TO PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION:
