Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties * You will perform the inspection, receipt, inventory, database entry, segregation and storage of hazardous waste. * You will prepare processed and non-processed hazardous waste for transport. * You will operate transport and handling vehicles such as forklifts, stake-body, box and vacuum tank trucks, and other lifting equipment to load and transport materials. * You will assist in collection of water, air, soil, and other hazardous waste samples using varying collection devices. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift Operator's license and Medical Forklift certification. * You will successfully complete a 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training within six months of employment. * This position requires experience in operating motor vehicles. * Must have the ability to use various forward speeds driving wheels, as well as be skilled in coordinating hands, feet, and eyes while using driving controls to safely operate vehicles with vacuum tank systems. WG-07: You must complete a 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operators Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training within six months of employment. You must pass the Department of Transportation and biennial refresher HW DOT training. You will be required to obtain and maintain within six months of employment a Government forklift operator's license and a hazmat (H) endorsement on their CDL. You must already possess a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake endorsements. (NOTE: You must provide a copy of the license with your application package in order to receive further consideration for the position.) Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: WG-07: Ability to do the work of a Hazardous Waste Disposer without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by: 1) Placing hazardous waste in appropriate containers; 2) Assisting with processing hazardous waste for storage and disposal; 3) Inspecting hazardous waste containers, storage locations, and labels; 4) Operating forklift and other container handling equipment, and 5) Performing hazardous waste pick-ups, transportation of hazardous waste, general hazardous waste characterization, and packaging and storage of hazardous waste.
