Duties * Serving as an Information Technologist Specialist performing work in the configuration, administration, maintenance, testing, delivery and support of information technology (IT) systems and services. * Developing new methods, approaches and procedures in the assigned specialty area(s) to improve quality assurance, find efficiencies, and improve requirements tracking. * Conducting analyses, troubleshooting, and recommending resolution of issues affecting the assigned specialty area(s). * Developing metrics for evaluating and/or monitors the accomplishment of IT goals and objectives. * Developing, implementing, or coordinating activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities. * Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software to ensure the availability and functionality of systems. * Provide(s) system administration support to users and operators for windows active directory, group policy, user permissions, shared storage access, and troubleshoot any issues pertaining to these areas. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * One year trial/probationary period may be required. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. * This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management certification within 36 months as of entrance on duty. * This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time. To qualify for an IT Specialist position you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below based on the grade level required of the position being filled: 1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND In addition to the competencies, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (NH-2) in the Federal service which includes:(1) Sustaining an operating systems environment to include Windows 11, Windows Server 2019, ESXi/VMware, and/or Solaris 10/11 system servers and/or operating systems software; (2) Developing security procedures to protect the integrity of systems, networks or data in an organization; and (3) Maintaining COMSEC networks including hardware (servers, hubs, bridges, switches, and routers) and software that allow the sharing or transmission of information. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional information * This non-supervisory position is subject to a salary control point equivalent to the GS- 13, step 05 base salary, or if the incumbent's salary currently exceeds the GS-13, step 05 level the incumbent's salary will be put on a salary control point at the incumbents existing salary.
