Duties * You will develop, implement, and maintain an IA program for all USMC owned information systems within the purview of the MTD. * You will implement/recommend policies and procedures to ensure MTD information systems are reliable and accessible and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. * You will ensure rapid and accurate implementation for USMC owned systems and monitors implementation in the contractor operated systems within MTD. * You will conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed MTD information systems to identify vulnerabilities , risks, and protection needs. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. * You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. * This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. * Temporary assigned duty (TAD) may be required, both nationally and internationally. * Must be able to type on a standard computer keyboard and mouse for the majority of each working day. * Physical mobility is required for participation in meetings at local and distant locations. Qualifications I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: comprehensively analyze policies and procedures, review and evaluate the impact of new guidance on current programs and recommends changes to existing plans and policies to ensure compliance and responsiveness. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: works with and coordinates with system owners and program managers with change, configuration, and patch management processes. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: influence and persuade employees and managers to accept and implement findings and recommendations regarding organizational conflict, competing objectives, or resource problems. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: develop and apply new techniques, technologies, and applications to previously unsolvable problems and recommend solutions to influence agency IT policies or programs as they affect utilities infrastructure. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates: Administrative, operational planning, exercise operations (development, design and execution), and research, development, and performing Information Assurance (IA)/ Information Security (IS) testing for various training and simulation events. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Applicant/incumbent must possess or be able to obtain certification for Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Security Leadership Certificate (GSLC) within 6 months of being hired.
