Controller - experience within the Building and Construction industry a must-have

The Controller is responsible for fiscal functions of the company in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have solid communication, technology, analytical, and strong management skills. This position will assist in all aspects of financial management, including regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate financial strategy through a range of avenues such as managing and allocating accounts, financial statements, and tax data. The candidate will also be the point of contact for banks, auditors, and tax authorities.

 

Accountabilities:

  • LMA
  • Achieve budget objectives by analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Protects operation by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Coordinate and preparing internal and external financial statements.
  • Coordinate activities of external auditors
  • Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems, developing and monitoring business performance metrics.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.

Manage accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition

Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

Support month-end and year-end close processes and ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Additional controller duties as necessary

 

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Controller must have previously or currently worked in a Construction-related industry
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with people.
  • Hands-on
