Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist with Security Clearance

Duties * Serves as the primary point of contact for the District in responding to media and public inquiries. * Oversees the design and content of the POA command website as the primary media to communicate internally and externally. * Develops, implements and evaluates District Strategic Communication Plan and Speakers Bureau program as well as conducts a public information program. * Establishes and maintains relationships and a communications network with counterparts of trade and mainstream journalists resulting in consistently balanced and accurate coverage of Corps activities * Writes news releases, feature stories, fact sheets, radio and television spots, speeches, and briefings that effectively transmit information of the activity of the District. * Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively. * This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. * This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
