Duties * Perform and resolve a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments. * Defuse potential volatile situations by personally explaining denial situations to customers and directing them away from staff. * Independently lead and manage the work of the Visitor Control Center in support of the physical security program. * Operate and perform research queries on the NCIC National Crime Information Center (NCIC/NCCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with Federal and state laws. * Provide authoritative guidance and information on security regulations and procedures while exercising sound judgment and discretion. * Provide control of sensitive information by maintaining a variety of files, access control registers, databases, and installation access denial records. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position requires you to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. * This position is subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements. * Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. * This position is "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency situations (natural or man-made disaster) you will be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. * Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
