Duties * You will incorporate required modifications; perform planned and corrective maintenance. * You will test, calibrate, analyze, repair, restore and certify radio communication systems, radar data systems, their associated subsystems and auxiliary electronic and electrical equipment installed at this command. * You will travel to remote sites to perform the same functions as stated above when appropriate. * You will maintain direct liaison with maintenance and engineering personnel, military and civilian, at various established remote sites housing this command's radio communication systems and radar data systems. * You will maintain direct liaison with local and long-haul telephone companies, government owned landline repair personnel, and JFMOLANT to ensure maximum reliability of landlines. * You will maintain the operational readiness of landlines and ensure the availability of frequencies to be used locally and at remote sites. * You will participate in evaluations of site surveys, acceptance inspections, and certifications of new installations, modifications of existing electronic systems, subsystems and auxiliary equipment. * You will submit and maintain appropriate electronic equipment records, reports, and carry out a program of updating such records for this facility and established remote sites. * You will draw schematic diagrams utilizing computer aided drafting (CAD) of existing and future electronic facilities for record purposes in order to facilitate their economical and efficient repair. * You will select and apply the proper guides, develop modifications to systems and install and modify programs for unique facility configuration. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. * Incumbent will be subject to callback and work unsupervised, assuming independent responsibility for all maintenance actions. Qualifications To qualify for the ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, GS-0856-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience performing extensive troubleshooting, repair, and certification of complex systems, sub systems, and auxiliary equipment at the component level. * Experience applying a wide range of technical electronics theories, electrical theory and electromechanical test methods. * Experience complying with U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance, repair, safety and operation of assigned equipment systems. * Extensive experience and working knowledge of uninterruptible power systems and emergency battery back-up supplies. * Extensive experience reading writing, and updating blueprints and drawings, specifications, diagrams, maintenance manuals, and technical instructions. * Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of inside and outside cable plant management regarding different types of communications standards including landlines, line amplifiers and associated terminal equipment.
