Duties * You will respond to rescue and life safety situations involving fire, aircraft, water, high level, confined space and hazardous materials incidents. * You will conduct and participate in regular periodic drills, to assure a high degree of readiness, and observe subordinates to assure a minimum amount of deficiencies in methods and procedures. * You will respond in support of all flight line aircraft emergencies at MCAS New River. * You will be in charge of the division's firefighting, rescue operations and be familiar with all types of aircraft within jurisdiction, operations and procedures utilized by ARFF firefighting. * You will respond to aircraft emergencies with his/her assigned Engine Company to all "off flight line" aircraft emergencies. * You will respond to all releases of hazardous materials, biological/ chemical, munitions, and fires at various storage sites and vehicles or vessels used to transport these materials. * You will inspect the company's first alarm assigned areas for pre-fire planning of building, fire hydrants, firefighting equipment, water systems and nearest route of travel. * You will work with other state, local and base agencies including; Onslow County 911 Center, Forestry, wildlife, explosive ordinance disposal and heavy equipment, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Must be a US Citizen. * Must be determined suitable for federal employment. * Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. * New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. * Incumbent must meet all DoDi 6055.06M Fire and Rescue Emergency Services Minimum Qualification Standards and certification requirements to include: Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Hazmat Incident commander * Continued Certification Requirements (CCR): Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Airport Firefighter, and Driver/ Operator Certificates for Pumps, Aerial, and Mobile Water Supply. * CCR: National Registry Emergency Medical Paramedic Certification (transferred to a North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic within six months of hire or North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic Certification upon hire. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing emergency response to include rescue and life safety situations involving fire, aircraft, water, high level, confined space , protection, and suppression, paramedic level emergency medical care, and hazardous materials response.
