Duties Serves as Systems and Database Administrator and provides technical guidance and instruction to users and other Information Technology (IT) specialists: Administers, installs, and maintains assigned systems. Ensures that the configurations of assigned systems comply with all DoD and AF Cybersecurity policies and meets or exceeds the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Optimizes the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems and ensures availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of assigned systems. Monitors the ongoing operations to ensure assigned systems are functioning within operational standards. Identifies, troubleshoots, and develops corrective or preventative procedures and takes actions to rectify complex problems and prevent future occurrences. Employee must keep abreast of new technology to ensure operational optimization. Applies innovative techniques and seasoned judgment to assist management in identifying areas where IT systems can reduce or eliminate labor and time intensive manual processes. Provides assistance and support which will either resolve problems or provide understanding of available tools with which IT technicians and users can accomplish problem resolution. Participates with management officials to identify automation requirements and conduct analysis of assigned systems to determine resources necessary to fulfill them. Tracks life of system equipment, prepares and provides analyses to determine future maintenance and replacement costs to help justify budget submissions. Responsible for administration of database servers including maintenance, monitoring and performance tunes. Ensures existing databases collect, store, and processes data effectively and accurately. Modifies systems and database configurations to correct problems that affect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data. Takes a proactive approach to providing customer assistance to resolve database issues in a timely manner. Provides formal or informal training for users, subject-matter specialists and support personnel. Promotes use of automated systems by providing instructions to functional area users on IT processes to include database and file accessing techniques, database security procedures, backup and program recovery techniques, and testing techniques. Will be driving between different facilities located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to perform duties. Reports to the Asst. Qualifying Experience: Knowledge of a full range of database management concepts, operations, principles, methodologies, and approaches used indesigning, developing, testing, implementing, managing, and maintaining database systems that meet organizational needs. Knowledge of system software and systems development life cycles including systems documentation, design development, configuration management, cost analysis, data administration, systems integration, and testing. Must have 3 years of relevant, full-time work experience. Every 2 years of IT related education may be substituted for 1 year of work experience. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Successful completion of an Access National Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI) is required. Must have CompTIA Security+ or other appropriate IA certification. Must obtain and maintain DoD 8570-M requirements within 6 months of hire. Must be able to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and be on call. Failure to maintain a security clearance and the proper IA certification can result in removal from this position. Must have a valid driver's license. Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test.
