FABRIC WORKER LEADER with Security Clearance

Summary You will serve as a FABRIC WORKER LEADER in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Duties * You will lead a small group of workers consisting of Fabric Workers and Fabric Worker Helpers. * You will assure that work assignments are carried out, giving status of work and reasons for any delays. * You will check work in progress and make sure that safety practices and good housekeeping rules are followed. * You will perform duties to reduce costs, improve efficiency and eliminate waste. * You will give appropriate skills training; utilizing shop training tools such as mock-ups in shop areas or facilities and on deck-plates. * You will demonstrate skills to others on work procedures and safety precautions. You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. * Must be a qualified nuclear worker and maintain these qualifications
* Instructing Fabric Workers, Fabric Worker Helpers, and Student Trainees (Fabric Worker), on proper work procedures and methods, use of tools and safety pertaining to shop trade skills;
* Performing all other typical work of a Fabric Worker and is able to lead others in accomplishing Fabric Worker responsibilities;
* Operating and set up of heat sealing machines, various types of sewing machines, eyelet or grommet machines, electronic cutting knives, leather splitter, and various hand tools;
* Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work orders;
