They provide technical guidance to enhance photogrammetric capability and applicability.
A photogrammetric imagery scientist extracts GEOINT from all types of imagery (satellite, airborne, ground, etc.) by performing dimensional analysis of objects and geographic features in images using specialized monoscopic, stereoscopic, and multi-image photogrammetric processes. They also perform volumetric analysis, micro-feature terrain analysis, SATCOM point to point line-of-sight analysis, forensic imagery/video analysis, solar/time analysis, velocity analysis, change detection, and locational analysis. They create mensuration reports and adapt current or develop new photogrammetric tools to meet customer needs. They prepare tailored products and information, explain technical concepts to non-specialists in an understandable manner, and serve as an expert imagery science representative to a variety of working groups and forums. They also participate in the development of automation, Computer Vision/Machine Learning (CV/ML) and data science solutions impacting photogrammetrically-based processes as appropriate. They also provide tradecraft guidance to other photogrammetric imagery scientists and instruction to customers in other disciplines. Duties: 1. Apply and develop statistical and quantitative methodologies aligned to photogrammetric processes to refine and improve GEOINT analysis and conclusions. 2. Develop, test, and evaluate new algorithms, processes, methodologies, and products using sensor metadata and imagery. 3. Educate customers on availability and capabilities of imagery products, methodologies, procedures, and algorithms to enhance analysis. 4. Use photogrammetric processes using imagery data to determine target locations, sensor location, orientation, and size (e.g., distances, direction/angle, height, diameter, geocoordinate), to evaluate performance of deployed sensor photogrammetric- related specifications. Develop solutions to improve quality of photogrammetric results (e.g., mono intersection, triangulation, multi-ray, stereo, multi-image sequence point extraction, source selection) to answer key intelligence questions pertinent to national security. Physical Requirement: -Near visual acuity of 20/20 or better with or without corrective lenses. -Far visual acuity of 20/60 or better with or without corrective lenses. -Stereopsis ability to view in stereo. -Ability to distinguish principal colors and shades/hues of principal colors.
