This position is a full-time (1.0 FTE) within the Career & Technology Division.Classification Summary:Director of Nursing position is a full-time (1.0) FTE, within the Career & Technology Division. The Director of Nursing reports to the Career & Technology Division Head. Responsibilities include full authority for administration and management of the appropriate resources to accomplish the nursing program mission, goals, and expected program outcomes and for administration of the nursing programs. This individual promotes NMSU-Alamogordo’s mission, vision, and goals by providing quality learning opportunities within the diverse service area.Classification Standard Duties:• The Director of Nursing will teach 3 credits per Fall and Spring semesters annually and have at least eighty (80) percent of obligated work time to administer the nursing programs.• As nursing faculty, provide instruction, use of a learning management system (currently CANVAS), teaching skills, arranging and monitoring clinical setting partnerships. The instruction provided must be compliant with the New Mexico Board of Nursing rules, regulations, policies and industry best practices, where applicable.• Participate in the development and instruction of courses, selection of textbooks and educational resources, development of syllabi, course-level and program assessment and curricular revisions/changes.• Must maintain a current Registered Nurse license from the state of New Mexico. Education and experience requirements include a minimum of a Master’s degree in nursing or nursing education.• The Director of Nursing is responsible for developing and maintaining strong partnerships with appropriate community stake holders in support of new healthcare programs, course development, and college improvement initiatives.• Must maintain an on-campus presence, as required by policy and supervisory requirements.• Must participate in student orientation and recruiting events, convocation, graduation, and other campus-wide or division/departmental events, as assigned by their supervisor or VPAA.Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency• Minimum of a Master’s degree in nursing or nursing education;• Hold a current registered nurse license to practice in New Mexico;• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience;• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a nurse educator;• Minimum of one (1) year of college-level teaching experience,• Current New Mexico State nursing licensure as a registered nurse in good standing, must maintain licensure in good standing throughout employmentKnowledge, Skills and Abilities• Ability to teach face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses.• Ability to work with a diverse student population.• Understanding of the community college mission and philosophy.• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.• Ability to use Windows and/or Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include full authority for administration and management of the appropriate resources to accomplish the nursing program mission, goals, and expected program outcomes and for administration of the nursing programs.
