Raytheon is seeking a Principal Program Industrial Engineer to support the Effectors portfolio of programs in Tucson, AZ to maximize throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to the customer.  Program Industrial Engineers partner closely with Factory Industrial Engineers, Area Transformation Industrial Engineers, and other functions to create predictable manufacturing systems.  Industrial Engineers are responsible for Labor Performance Analyses, Process and Value Stream Mapping, Line Balancing, Capacity Planning, Manpower Planning, Factory Layouts, Factory Simulations, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Continuous Improvement, and more.  Every day presents new and exciting challenges and reminds us of our mission to deliver to those who defend us.  We hope you are as excited about this opportunity as we are.

What You Will Do

  • Provide industrial engineering support directly to program customers from development through production useful for improving program performance across multiple value streams /factories internal and external to Raytheon
  • Model factory operations by generating process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show production processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key performance indicators
  • Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce undesirable effects, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals
  • Influence factory roadmaps and investment strategies by drafting infrastructure improvement and expansion proposals, and planning the integration of new products, technologies, and equipment that create a competitive advantage 
  • Work with cross-functional teams to execute projects that address obsolescence, improve factory performance, and promote growth
  • Support new production contract/new product proposals and new product integration efforts
  • This role may require infrequent travel up to 10% to suppliers and Raytheon factories outside of Tucson

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering, or similar engineering discipline with a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or a minimum of 6 years with a master’s degree in a similar discipline
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance

  • Experience/Education with simulation modeling and capacity analysis tools/methods
  • Experience/Education with project management
  • Experience/Education with CAD software
  • Six Sigma certifications

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
