Job Title: OR Support Technician

Job Summary: This position provides essential support for the OR team, including but not limited to infection prevention monitoring and cleaning implementation, safe patient transfer and transport to, from, and within the OR and PACU, assisting with patient positioning, obtaining and setting up equipment, assisting with room turnovers to meet infection prevention standards, specimen delivery, and other duties as assigned. Must be conscientious about surgical processes, following directions, infection prevention/cleanliness, and patient safety.

Work Schedule Options:

  • 11am-7pm
  • 1pm-9pm
  • Part-Time: 3pm-7pm or 5pm-9pm


Requirements Aptitudes and Job Responsibilities:

- Facilitate high-quality room turnover efficiently.
- Maintain sterile field and follow patient safety standards.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and collaborate with care providers.
- Safely transport and transfer patients using wheelchairs or gurneys.
- Report patient condition changes to nursing staff promptly.
- Operate in a high-stress environment with a focus on patient safety.
- Adhere to infection control guidelines and maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform CPR if necessary and maintain contact via Vocera.
- Stock inventory and promote good customer relations.
- Use proper body mechanics for patient and equipment transport.
- Present a professional appearance and communicate effectively.
- Multi-task efficiently and solve problems with strong people skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by OR leadership.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Preferred six months of experience in a healthcare setting and/or working with patients.
  • Ability to safely and ergonomically move equipment, patients, and supplies.
  • Proficiency in using a telephone, Vocera, and computer keyboard.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing English.

Education:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.

License/Certification:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification within 6 months of hire.
