As a Scientist or Engineer involved in leading epitaxial growth of crystalline semiconductors you will focus on production and development of critical diode materials for Infrared Sensors at Raytheon Vision Systems, a provider of leading-edge sensing technology. We are looking for an individual who must demonstrate a safety-first work routine. A scientist/engineer who exhibits leadership qualities who supports production goals and participates in the development of state-of-the-art, cost competitive, crystalline HgCdTe materials for next generation advanced IR sensors. As part of a multi-functional team, you will be involved quantifying critical growth parameters for our Liquid Phase Epitaxy (LPE) systems, and in the development of meaningful, trackable process metrics. You will be responsible to derive conclusions and make decisions on technical directions.
Developing in depth knowledge of LPE growth mechanisms is essential. This includes utilization of materials characterization techniques or metrology that provide data to derive growth processes. You will assess process variability through advanced mathematical methods and statistical analysis, apply process controls to assure repeatability for transition into production. You will further establish correlation with upstream customer metrics to assure higher level compatibility and system level yield.
Liquid Phase Epitaxy fabrication requires to be able to work in a controlled, clean-room environment as well as a fundamental understanding of temperature controlled, vacuum and high-pressure equipment. You will work in a team environment that will require detailed communication to direct technicians and to interface with colleagues collaboratively. You will be participating in production meetings in addition to leading key engineering projects. Understanding of production goals with associated urgency of schedule is equally important to research and development. In that role you will further engage collaboratively with internal and external customers involved in bulk crystal growths and Molecular Beam Epitaxy. It is encouraged to interface with industry networks and to maintain relationship with universities to maintain a current, up-to-date understanding of state of the art..
What You Will Do
- Directly work with semiconductor materials
- Detailed understanding of epitaxy growth processes
- Working of high temperature, vacuum, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Working of common metrology techniques to quantify crystalline growth.
- Communicate to external leaders including customers and vendors
- Summarize and communicate to executive leaders for purpose of funding allocation
- Working in controlled areas, cleanrooms, laboratories etc
- Working with advanced mathematical methods for data analysis
- Working of statistical methods and its relevance for process control
- Using common software tools for data manipulation and data extraction such as: Matlab, ProE, SQL
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in s semiconductor environment Or an advanced degree with 7 years of relevant experience in s semiconductor environment.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience with ISO compliance and WIP tracking systems
- Experience in handling of fragile materials and delicate hardware.
- A motivated and self-starting individual who interacts well in a team environment that includes both company colleagues and customers.

The salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 272,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
