Purpose of Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and develop of the mechanical architecture for equipment used in commercial and industrial evaporative cooling and humidification applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, Engineering, and Production to develop products to meet customer requirements and bring new and enhanced products to market. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in HVAC systems, a passion for innovation and a proven track record of successful product testing and improvement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer documents including technical specifications, schematic diagrams and mechanical drawings to understand their requirements.
  • Develop conceptual designs based on customer requirements including budgetary costing and CDE (Comply, Deviate, Exception) documentation.
  • Undertake detailed engineering design work using 3D and 2D CAD systems to produce models and manufacturing drawings.
  • Ensure designs meet specifications, performance criteria, and manufacturing
  • Prepare and develop BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Responsible for pprototype assembly, testing and refinement. Analyze test data and modify designs to improve performance or resolve issues.
  • Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality control processes.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality.
  • Keep up to date with the latest technologies, materials, and trends in mechanical
  • Adhere to Condair's Quality Assurance System and Health and Safety
  • Perform other duties as assigned by
  • Occasional travel (up to 15% of working time - domestic and international) is required for this role. The expectation for this role is to travel to the UK for 2-3 weeks within the first 3 months for training purposes.

Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering is essential. 3-5 years' experience in mechanical product or system design is required.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and orally in English.
  • Strong communication skills, able to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Strong problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering principles and design standards. Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing of mechanical components.
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.3D and 2D CAD experience is essential. 3D and 2D Solid Edge and PLM experience is essential.
  • Strong computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Microsoft Office.Valid and up-to-date passport, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.Sheet metal design experience is preferred. Experience in HVAC design field is preferred.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 organization is an asset. Experience of structural design analysis is an asset.
  • Experience using SAP is an asset.
