GIS Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in search of a GIS Developer in Sausalito, CA.Project Overview:We are seeking an expert-level contractor to develop a custom toolset within ArcGIS Pro that leverages LiDAR and other 3D inputs to perform viewshed analysis. The tool will assess the impact of proposed developments on existing resident views, allowing users to upload models, run analyses, and generate reports. This individual would also create custom map and perform spatial analysis on assigned projects. The tool will ultimately be deployed by a service provider.Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a comprehensive view protection toolset within ArcGIS Pro
• Utilize LiDAR data, 3D models of neighborhood buildings, and ArcGIS Pro's 3D Analyst extension to conduct precise viewshed analyses
• GIS Developer will create an automated workflow that follows a series of steps from identifying potentially impacted views to generating a final impact report
• Ensure seamless integration of the tool with ArcGIS Pro, enabling users to upload development models and assess their impact on surrounding views
• Implement the tool to generate percentage impact reports comparing current and proposed viewsheds
• Work to identify and qualify a service provider to deploy the tool

REQUIREMENTS:

• Expertise in ArcGIS Pro: Extensive experience in using ArcGIS Pro, particularly in the context of 3D analysis, including familiarity with the 3D Analyst extension and working with digital elevation models (DEMs) and LiDAR data
• Proficiency in Python for ArcGIS: Strong Python programming skills with a focus on automating tasks within ArcGIS Pro; Familiarity with the arcpy library is essential
• Experience with Viewshed Analysis: Proven track record of conducting viewshed analysis using ArcGIS Pro or similar GIS software, ideally with experience in environmental impact assessments or urban planning projects
• 3D Modeling and Data Integration: Ability to work with 3D models and integrate various data types (e.g., LiDAR, DEMs) into a cohesive analysis framework
• Tool Development: Experience in creating custom tools or extensions for ArcGIS Pro, including user interface design and workflow automation
• Report Generation: Competence in automating the generation of detailed reports summarizing analysis results, including pass/fail metrics and percentage impacts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in GIS or a Related Field: A Master's or higher in Geographic Information Systems, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
• Professional Certifications: ESRI Technical Certification or similar professional GIS certifications
• Familiarity with View Ordinance Compliance: Understanding of view protection ordinances and experience working on projects that involve view impact analysis in urban or residential settings

Deliverables:

• Fully functional ArcGIS Pro toolset capable of performing automated viewshed analysis
• User documentation and training materials
• Example datasets and test cases demonstrating tool functionality
• Final report summarizing the tool's development process, capabilities, and limitations

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
