Travel Requirements

Opportunity Overview

We seek a Medical Writer to join our growing team and report directly to the Vice President of Breaking Data. This role involves working closely with various team members across digital and print marketing channels. You can bring incredible projects to life, working from concept to final sign-off. The Medical Writer will craft compelling copy for various projects, including training modules, sales aids, white papers, medical presentations, and pharmaceutical marketing presentations. Your work must inspire action and change customer behaviors.


Roles and responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Vice President and in conjunction with Breaking Data team members, the essential functions of the Medical Writer include but are not limited to:


CREATING AMAZING WORK


  • Craft brilliant writing and copy for various digital and non-digital projects, such as training modules, sales aids, white papers, medical presentations, marketing presentations, videos, websites, and social media.
  • To create accurate and impactful content, utilize your understanding of medical concepts, disease states, and pharmaceutical products.
  • Be responsible for editorial excellence, including grammar and usage, medical terminology, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure, tables, graphs, visual abstracts, and other illustrative materials.
  • Ensure all writing is correctly referenced and annotated to primary sources, as needed.
  • Conduct literature searches and systematic reviews, ensuring content is accurate and evidence-based
  • Adapt, edit, and write projects according to client needs, standards, and systems.
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects, maintaining organization and attention to detail.
  • Stay current with best practices in medical writing and innovations in medicine, technology, and healthcare.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop and craft medical content that drives behavioral change


QUALIFICATIONS


Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • The ability to write, edit, and lightly design in Microsoft PowerPoint is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and ability to learn is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of or the ability to grasp, learn, and create medical concepts and content
  • Ability to ensure that content complies with regulatory, publication, and client guidelines
  • Ability to work with subject matter experts to craft medical content that can change behaviors
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough literature searches and systematic reviews to ensure all content is accurate and evidence based.

Project Management

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Proactive mindset to seek feedback or clarification when needed
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity to craft design solutions that align with project objectives

Communication

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to think conceptually
  • Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and ideas
  • Collaborative mindset to work closely with cross-functional teams

Adaptability

  • Willingness to take on diverse tasks beyond traditional design responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in finding creative solutions when faced with challenges

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher; PhD, BSN or PharmD is a plus
  • Portfolio showcasing a range of medical writing publications or projects
  • 3+ years of professional experience required
  • Experience in a healthcare agency or life sciences organization is a plus
