About the Role:

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, be comfortable in an in-patient mental health setting, and be committed to improving the quality of life for individuals with speech and language challenges.


Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, and communication abilities to diagnose disorders and determine appropriate treatment plans.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized therapy programs to address the specific needs of clients/patients, including articulation, fluency, voice disorders, and cognitive-communication impairments.
  • Intervention: Provide direct therapy services, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques to enhance speech and language skills.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and document client progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and communicate updates with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Collaboration: Work with other professionals, such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, and educators, to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
  • Education: Educate clients, families, and caregivers about speech and language disorders, treatment strategies, and techniques to support continued progress outside therapy sessions.
  • Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes by regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with the latest research and advancements in speech-language pathology and participate in ongoing professional development activities.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Certification: Current licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in [State/Country]. Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is preferred.
