Summary

Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Northwest (NAVFAC NW) provides infrastructure support to the US Navy within the Puget Sound region of Washington. This position is located at the Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton for the Public Works Department and is responsible for the oversight of infrastructure construction and rehabilitation projects that support the readiness of US naval fleet.


Duties

• Responsible for quality assurance, safety and environmental oversight for

infrastructure construction projects

• Review and process contractor submittals including progress schedules, safety

plans, quality control plans, and utility outage requests.

• Inspect construction work on site to ensure work aligns with contract plans and

specifications; review and approve contractor invoices.

• Provide support services in the field of construction contracts such utility outages or

other navy operations.

• Provide advice to contracting officer following investigation of field conditions

requiring changes in plans and specifications, such as poor construction or defective

materials.

• Evaluate technical data pertaining to materials, equipment, shop drawings, samples

certificates of compliance, and methods of installation submitted by contractors.

• Review for technical feasibility, adequacy, and compliance with contract documents.


Experience

Seeking strong communication skills, knowledge of infrastructure or building construction practices, ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Able to evaluate contractor construction work to ensure it meets provided code requirements and regulations

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
