The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.At Target, we believe in our team members having meaningful experiences that help them build and develop skills for a career. The role of a General Merchandise Expert can provide you with the:Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest first culture across the storeExperience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvementExperience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goalsAs a General Merchandise Expert, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you are completing your daily tasksWhen guests need assistance, engage with guests in a welcoming way, to help solve their specific needsThank guests and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at TargetExecute daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areasIf certified operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixturesExecute processes including changing prices to products, merchandise set-up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areasLearn how operational procedures, such as setting up and organizing merchandise, managing product stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availabilityBe knowledgeable about the resources, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experienceDemonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance. Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible. Support guest services such as back-up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes (such as picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties, such as federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
