Jupiter Medical Center is the only hospital in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties to receive a 4-star quality and safety rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).EducationGraduate from an accredited program for medical assistants with one year in a medical office setting preferred.Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required within the hiring period.Experience / QualificationsMedical Assistance Certification preferredKnowledge of the outpatient practice of medicine.Must have experience in medical assisting.Knowledge of medical practice, patient care skills, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.Must possess computer skills and customer service skills.Capable of making sound decisions.Detail oriented and self motivated.Position SummaryThe Medical Assistant is a multi skilled specialist who assists the physician in all aspects of the medical practice under the direct responsibility of the physician. Responsibilities include assisting with the patient care management, executes administrative and clinical procedures and performs supervisory functions pertaining to position. Competency requires that the medical assistant adheres to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize and respond to emergencies and demonstrates professional characteristics.Vital signsPreparing patients for examinationEntering lab and imaging ordersCollecting and preparing laboratory specimensUpdating patient medical recordsAnswering phonesScheduling appointmentsRemoving sutures and dressingsTransmitting prescription refillsPerforms other duties as assigned.Team Member CompetenciesEstablishing RelationshipsBuilds effective networks, working relationships, and alliances in order to collaborate effectively within department and organization.
