Then, as you advance through the Transportation Education Program (TEP) levels, you may receive wage increases.Earn additional compensation for on call, shift differential, weekends, and holiday snow removal.Grow your career with us and specialize in areas that interest you, including Maintenance, Construction, Inspection, and more.Gain the skills necessary for advancement through our comprehensive online and field training.The Utah Department of Transportation is looking for a hard working, hands-on individual to fill a Transportation Technician II position in Region One's Ogden Maintenance Station located at 1445 Wall Avenue, Ogden, UT 84015. This is a very important position that is part of a team that oversees/is involved with the construction and maintenance of state roads and keeps Utah moving as safely and efficiently as possible.Principle duties as a transportation technician in maintenance will include:Removing snow from state roadways using snowplows/front-end loaders/salt spreaders/graders/blowers, and other related equipment.Performing general maintenance to roadway and drainage features.Performing general maintenance on equipment.Performing materials testing and providing the associated required documentation to ensure features are constructed/installed according to project plans and specifications.Performing construction inspection and documentation on the work performed by contractors.Working with contractors to complete construction, maintenance, and permit projects.Performing vegetation management, including herbicide application.Completing other duties as assigned and needed by department leadership.The qualified candidate for this position is someone who:Has a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or is able to obtain one within 6 months of hire through Department-provided training and participate in the Region's snow plan.Is able and willing to report to the Region One Ogden Maintenance Station located at 1445 Wall Avenue, Ogden, UT 84015 within a 30-minute response time.Is able and willing to provide 24-hour availability.Will self-provide a smartphone with data and will be eligible to receive a monthly taxable allowance to offset the cost of cell plans.Is able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.Is reliable and can work well in a team environment.Is able and willing to complete continued education in the UDOT Transportation Technician Education Program (TEP).Obtain certifications required by the Region within the first year and keep those certifications current.Preference may be given to applicants who have: a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License; Transportation Education Program (TEP) Transportation Technician II Training; UDOT maintenance/construction experience; professional work experience operating heavy equipment; professional work experience with and/or knowledge of roadway maintenance/construction and snow removal.The work we do matters.
