As our Radio Broadcasting Instructor & Producer, you will have a flexible full time schedule that will allow you to work with individuals and groups of students to produce Radio Perkins shows and other activities. You will develop and implement training in vocations related to communications, media, and related fields.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations include the following:
● Facilitate the training of students and individuals from the community to
establish a steady schedule of programming for the Perkins internet radio
station.
● Develop, review, and enforce policies, schedules and guidelines for the radio
station , coordinate student participation in live and pre-recorded programs.
● Support teachers and other Perkins staff in recording planning and efforts
● Source creative ideas that can be turned into interesting and informative
programming with Perkins staff, students and community members
● Facilitate the building of an audio database of files and sound effects for future broadcasts
● Assist with technical issues at times when Berklee staff are unavailable.
● Assist at external events, as required.
Knowledge and Skills
● Must have experience working or volunteering with those with disabilities, preference is for familiarization with the unique educational needs of visually impaired students
● Understanding of the principles of digital broadcasting technology and program making
● Excellent skills in reading, writing, and speaking
● Ability to communicate effectively and confidently, both verbally and in writing.
● Ability to adapt style to suit the audience in order to write, assemble, edit and
deliver live and pre-recorded research and radio programs to the highest
professional standards
● Able to acquire technical skills in order to operate equipment such as editing
software, radio mixing desks and mini disk recorders
● Proven ability in organization and scheduling
● Experience in working with a small team and developing effective and supportive relationships with colleagues
● Experience researching topics, recording and editing professional interviews
