The Retail Sales Associate is an expert in building a wardrobe and loves to sell a quality product, and cultivates and maintains client relationships through brand awareness.Essential Functions:Performs activities associated with selling, stocking and ordering merchandise in the storeAssists customers in locating merchandise and answering a variety of questions concerning general merchandise; demonstrates use of merchandise upon requestStocks shelves and tables with merchandise; keeps merchandise orderly and neat in appearanceTotals prices and tax on merchandise selected by customer using cash register; accepts payment following established procedures for different types of transactions; makes change; issues sales receipt; calculates discounts when appropriateCounts and balances cash register and receiptsStamps or attaches price tags on merchandise and/or checks tagged prices to verify accuracy referring to price listMaintains a client book and contacts customers regularly when new products arriveFills out specific forms to process transactions or special orders such as refundsChecks inventory periodically to obtain reorder information to replenish stock; informs designated staff member of product needsChecks inventory listing with actual inventory on shelf and reports discrepancies to supervisorSets up promotional displays; makes signs or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote salesKeeps sales floor and stock area neat and orderlyCompetencies:An experienced selling professional able to generate sales through relationship building with clients and the communityAbility to build, manage and utilize a client list to increase salesA keen understanding of the importance of Customer Service these are keystones of the Peter Millar experience and the Retail environment we serveA self-motivated, self-starter with the ability to perform daily tasks with little supervisionExcellent PR skillsPositive attitude, great enthusiasm for the brand and outgoing personalityEffective verbal and written communication skillsOutgoing demeanorAbility to work in a team environment and assist othersAbility to stand/stoop/bend/walk 8-10 hours during shiftAbility to lift up to 20 pounds periodicallyDesired Education and Experience:At least 2 years' experience in a lead selling roleCollege degree preferred in business, marketing, fashion, or merchandisingBasic understanding of sales principles and customer service practicesPrevious cash handling experienceTechnically savvy with experience in MS Office, internet searching, email, POS systems preferredIf you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us
