Vice Principal of Academic Affairs


The Vice Principal position is a 12-month/full-time position working through the calendar year requiring occasional weekend and evening time commitments.


Reporting to the Principal, the Vice-Principal for Academic Affairs plays a pivotal role in the development and implementation of strategic goals to ensure quality, continuous improvement in pursuit of innovation, and growth of the school, particularly with respect to the teaching, learning, and faculty development. Critical to the success and impact of the Vice-Principal for Academic Affairs is that she/he understand and value the mission of Gesu School and the important position of the Jesuits and Sister Servants of Immaculate Heart of Mary in that mission.


Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in the field of education (preferably in educational leadership/administration).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of school leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of teaching experience.
  • Candidate must exhibit a genuine commitment to the mission/philosophy of Gesu School.
  • Candidate must establish effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Candidate must foster healthy working relationships with staff, students, parents & colleagues.


Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise compliance reporting for accreditation (i.e. Middle States; Jesuit-School Sponsorship).
  •  Coordinate the academic summer programs (Youngest Scholars; Summer Camp)
  •  Facilitate meetings between families, students, and staff to discuss areas of concern, to identify solutions, and to make recommendations in conjunction with the principal.
  • Assist in maintaining school climate and behavior expectations, routines, and consequences reflective of our vision, mission, and core IHM and Jesuit faith-based values.
  • Assist in faculty and academic staff recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, retention, and supervision.
  • Collect and analyze academic data to inform strategic decisions for curriculum and pedagogy focused on academic strengths and weaknesses and in support student goals.
  • Develop an awareness and understanding of the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP) and coach faculty on its use in classroom instruction, a student-centered approach to teaching and learning.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement professional development opportunities for faculty and staff in conjunction with the Principal.
  • Act as site administrator/point of contact when principal is not on campus and for various learning faculty, staff, and student technology platforms and the implementation of standardized testing and analysis of testing data in conjunction with the Principal.
  • In collaboration with the Principal, faculty, and staff, manage academic intervention, support, and social emotional learning services.
  • Coordinate the admission and onboarding of transfer students.
  • Supervise morning student arrivals and help manage the teacher substitution process and proctoring duties in conjunction with the Principal.
  • Engage in ongoing development as an educator considering new research, best practices, and social and cultural context.
  • Performs other duties designated by the Principal.
