Construction InspectorThis position is funded to begin 10/01/2025. Reporting directly to Supervising Inspector, responsible for performing inspections to ensure compliance of construction projects are within local and state parameters for the Williamson County Department of Infrastructure. Level III of III in Inspectors.Examples of Work Performed:Assists in coordination and planning of training new inspectorsPerforms Supervising Inspector duties in the absence of the Supervising InspectorConducts and performs construction project inspections for subdivision construction, county road special projects, road bond projects and utility relocationsPerforms and documents public and occupational safety inspections and investigations including collection of data, case investigation and documentationConducts various on-site visits to conduct quality control on work being performed in compliance with the Stormwater Pollution Prevention PlanCollaborates and attends pre-construction meetings to coordinate project specifications associated with contractor scheduling, sampling, and identifying testing requirementsSamples asphalt and aggregates according to TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) testing specificationsReviews various reports related to contractor estimate pay, geotechnical subgrades and testing results from various sourcesMeets with landowners, engineers, and contractors to respond to questions and issuesResponds to technical questions from homeowners, designers, County Commissioners, and other Williamson County Officials regarding procedures, requirements, and design standardsMonitors third party sampling and collects data and analysis on compliance measuresPerforms contract compliance by ensuring terms and conditions are metMaintains accurate daily construction diaries and records as well as oversees retention and storage of department filesMonitors and oversees plans of traffic control signs and barricades in compliance with the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) for procedural purposesAssists with public information requests and document managementAssists in the management of the maintenance records tracking systemHandles cash/checks or other depositsAttends all meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedOrganization Relationships:Reports directly to - Supervising InspectorDirect Reports - NoPhysical Demands:Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carryingPosition involves safely operating a motor vehicleEnvironmental Factors:Indoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weatherTravel between work sites, is requiredExposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, bacteria, fungus, and high noise levelsIrregular Hours:Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be requiredMay be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergencyServes as on-call status as neededThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job. This job description is subject to change as the needs and requirements of the job change.Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentFour (4) years of experience in construction roadway including two (2) year of inspection experienceSuperior Knowledge of construction materials, including construction materials sampling and testingSuperior Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and construction material tracking applicationsLicenses and Certifications:Valid Texas driver's license required within thirty (30) days of employmentLevel 1 B Asphalt Inspection License within 6 monthsPreferred Qualifications:Associate degree in a related fieldACI (American Concrete Institution) Concrete Materials CertificationStormwater One Training CertificationEmployment Testing:Criminal background check: YesMotor Vehicle Record check: YesDrug screening: YesPhysical exam: YesPsychological exam: NoWilliamson County offers a full range of employee benefit programs for eligible full-time employees, retirees, and their families.
