Director of Payroll Operations

Responsibilities A Kforce client located in the Queens, NY area seeks a Director of Payroll Operations. This role will work a hybrid schedule after the in-office training period. This is a newly created position due to growth within the company.Key Responsibilities: Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with labor laws and tax regulations Manage payroll audits and partner with HR, Finance, and Legal to implement compensation and benefits changes Lead payroll tax compliance, filings, and serve as the primary contact for tax agencies Mentor and develop a team of payroll professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement Drive payroll system upgrades, automation, and process enhancements for maximum efficiency Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize payroll and tax reporting capabilities Will process for over 20k employees Manage a team of 6-7 employees Skills Bachelor's degree preferred but not required CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification required 10+ years of payroll experience, with at least 5 years in a strong leadership capacity Deep expertise in multi-state payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, and payroll software (ADP, Paychex, UKG) Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills This company offers: Great salary Medical, dental, and vision plans for employees and dependents 401(k) participation with company match after 3 months of service Long-term disability coverage Accrued vacation and sick time 9 paid federal holidays Professional development opportunities Inclusive, collaborative company culture The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave. Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
