Come join our award winning 12,000 strong organization as we fuel the world and each other Summary The Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) Specialist will be a certified ASNT LEVEL III in Ultrasonics, Visual, Dye Penetrant and Magnetic Particle, responsible for writing and administering the Energy Transfer (ET) ASNT-TC-1A Written Practice and Method Specific Procedures. This includes the development of training, testing and certification of Energy Transfer NDE technicians in accordance with ASNT-TC-1A. The NDE Specialist will also be challenged daily with the systematic review and assessment of various Pipeline Integrity non-destructive testing techniques and methodologies. The Specialist must be able to determine the proper NDE methods for identified anomalies, including knowledge of current and historical pipeline manufacturing techniques and processes. Must be able to interpret or evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures not limited to API 1104, CFR 49 Part192, CFR 49 Part 195, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and ASME Section V. The position will also work closely with pipeline integrity project managers, Integrity and Material Engineers, and operations staff. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The NDE Specialist must have knowledge and skills to evaluate results of methods of non-destructive testing (NDT) such as: Primarily Ultrasonics including Phased Array, AUT, ToFD 3D Laser scanning (Creaform) Magnetic particle Liquid penetrant Visual testing Eddy current testing (Eddyfi Spyne & Sharck) Long Range ultrasonics (guided wave) The NDE Specialist will be required to audit and evaluate ET or 3rd party contractors' written practice and procedures, field inspections and final reports. Must have experience, knowledge, and skills in the following: Calibration and operation of NDE equipment used in the non-destructive testing of products or materials Mapping the presence of imperfections within objects using ultrasonic measurements Measure physical or chemical properties of materials or objects Identify defects in solid materials using ultrasonic testing techniques Test characteristics of materials or structures. Preparing reports on non-destructive testing results Review In Line Inspection (ILI) NDE procedures and practices Support dig projects with the selection of the most effective NDE equipment and techniques to accurately measure reported anomalies Characterization and sizing of pipeline anomalies using PAUT Familiar with pipe manufacturing defects (steel rolling laminations, inclusions, seam defects, hook cracks, LOF, etc.) Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: High school diploma or equivalent 6+ years of related experience Certified ASNT LEVEL III in ultrasonics, visual, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing. NDE technologies and software (beam tool, weldsight, VXintegrity, etc.) Preferred qualifications and experience: It is preferred the applicant also have a level III in radiographic testing. Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite products. Strong written and oral communication Strong interpersonal skills Ability to work as a team member in a respectful manner in a diverse work environment Working Conditions and Requirements: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Exposure to heat, cold, and other adverse weather conditions. Working conditions may include confined spaces. Repetitively standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, and climbing ladders up to 25 feet. Occasionally lifting 50 lbs. with or without assistance. Subject to callouts to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays. Work in and around industrial and construction settings, which may include hazardous products, processes, materials, and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and may require appropriate personal protective equipment. Occasional overnight travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
