Akkodis is seeking a Principal Network Engineer for a Fulltime Employee with a client located in in Plano, TX --2 weeks onsite and later hybrid.
JOB TITLE: Principal Network Engineer
EMPLOYMENT TYPE/DURATION: Direct hire
COMPENSATION:salary range is $160-180k + 15% bonus
LOCATION DETAILS: Based in Plano, TX-- 2 weeks onsite and later hybrid.
As a Principal Network Engineer, you will lead a team in planning, implementing, and supporting complex network and datacenter solutions, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. You will design network architectures for on-premises datacenters and cloud infrastructure, provide technical guidance, and develop solution proposals. This role requires strong skills in network and security design, critical thinking, and excellent communication.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Management – 50% Research new technology and methodologies for suggesting improvements on DAI existing network and voice infrastructure. Periodic review of development cycle of network & telephony systems to meet enterprise requirements. Responsible for design decisions and implementation plans. Involve in regular reviews of network management logs and other systems for ensure performance and network uptime. Review and sign off design impact post network release implementation. Propose timely and appropriate resolution for identified network & telephony related maintenance issues. DR proposals for BCP by developing infrastructure backup & restoration policy.
- Problem Identification & Resolution – 20% Develop & review a generic problem impact containment strategy along with a pre-defined process to isolate any network & telephony problems. Monitor & evaluate the impact of each step through problem management tools. Reviews logs and monitors and respond to alerts via company preferred communication application to keep management & other teams informed. Open support tickets and work through network & telephony vendor’s support calls.
- Administrative Processes & Documentation – 25% Responsible for organizing pre implementation tasks. Bill of materials and quote review. Cross examination and building comparison tables for management review. Participate in project management process and attend team meetings. Create timesheet of resource utilization as assigned by the Manager of Network services. Works with other departments and with plant managers to coordinate network installation and infrastructure changes as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar with 15 years of experience, or 10 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree.
- Expert level certifications or equivalent knowledge with hands on experience in a hybrid corporate network.
- 5+ years of experience with network design, solution proposal and implementation.
- Demonstrate experience with WAN technologies such MPLS, VPN, IPVPN, & SD-WAN
- Design experience of WAN backbone network communication protocols (eg BGP, MBGP, OSPF)
- Experience with cloud (AWS, Azure, GC) network and/or security
- Experience with next generation firewall technology (Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, etc.)
- Familiarity with access control model and network security
- Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (eg python, perl)
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring and analysis tools (e.g. SolarWinds network tools)
- Solid understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS)
- Sharp troubleshooting skills
- Organizational and mentoring skills
- Systems: Windows, Cisco Systems, Linux
- Must be flexible with schedule.
- Must be honest, responsible, self-motivated and very willing to learn.
