Overview

The EMS Shift Lieutenant is a leader within the crew on the ambulances. He or she will be responsible to the Shift Captain, Major, or Administration for duties related to maintaining adequate staffing, fleet, supply distribution, compliance of process, policies and procedures and other resources available for the department to function effectively. Will be responsible for completing all necessary required data reports and related assignments each shift. Each lieutenant may be asked to develop a particular area of expertise, such as QA, training or education, that will involve them assisting more than just the crews on their shift.


Qualifications:

A. Education

1. Completion of an accredited Paramedic Certificate or Degree program or an EMT- Advanced Certificate or Degree program.
2. High School diploma or equivalent

B. Experience

1. Minimum of 5 years‘ experience in EMS

C. Licensure/Certification

1. GA or Alabama Paramedic or
2. GA or Alabama EMT-Advanced
Above based on location assigned

D. Interpersonal requirements

1. The Lieutenant must have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
