Opportunity Summary
The O&M Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Director and is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of the projects. This leadership role involves managing hourly employees across various RNG sites and adhering to NAES policies, procedures, and regulations related to operations, safety, conduct, and housekeeping. The O&M Supervisor is also tasked with safeguarding the Owner's investment in machinery, equipment, and facilities by applying care, skill, and expertise.
Primary Duties
- Oversight of all hourly personnel conducting the monitoring, inspection, maintenance, and control of all project equipment to ensure safe, compliant, continuous and efficient operation. Take action as necessary to prevent any safety violations or production loss.
- Ensure that all work assignments are in alignment with client requirements. Manage the day-to-day workload of Process Operators and guide their technical and professional development.
- Conduct periodic review of project policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current project goals, operating requirements and the industry's best in class
- Motivate, direct and supervise personnel to effectively and efficiently accomplish their assigned duties through performance appraisals, reward, discipline, and management skills
- Improve techniques and methods of process control that will increase operational efficiencies
- Record and analyze statistical data concerning operations to ensure that the facilities are running as specified
- Develop and maintain the long-range maintenance plans and utilize an organized method of planning day-to-day activities, including weekly and monthly plans
- Delegate projects and tasks to project employees to ensure an acceptable backlog of work orders, work is properly distributed, and all personnel are being exposed to the various functions within the project thus promoting the experience level of the staff
- Troubleshoot failures and malfunctions to determine the root cause and maintain, operate, repair and replace equipment as necessary
- Monitor and optimize project performance. This should include periodic testing, evaluations, and recommendations to the owner for improvement projects with cost justifications. Encourage the staff to incorporate improvements internally to reduce contractor costs.
- Manage the staff to promote efficient operations and utilization of overtime hours
- Communicate effectively with the site staff, Operations Director, Facility Owner, farmers, and outside agencies
- Demonstrate effective management skills in meeting or exceeding facility goals and objectives and support the Operations Director in ensuring that NAES is performing in accordance with the O&M agreement
- Lead the effort to identify problem areas where there are repeat problems, inefficiencies, or unsafe areas. Once identified, prepare capital project suggestions with appropriate cost benefit analysis.
- Ensure proper, efficient and safe operation of the facility equipment by establishing, implementing, and maintaining equipment operating procedures
- Coordinate contractor support required for equipment repair or maintenance including work scope, negotiations, contract development, and implementation
- Lead the planning of maintenance outages using effective time management principles
- Provide the Operations Director with information concerning the availability and reliability of facility equipment
- Support equipment operation through the implementation of preventive, predictive, scheduled and corrective maintenance planning and procedures
- Develop and maintain equipment history operating records including equipment operating hours, maintenance downtime, cost, availability, manpower utilization and report such information to the Operations Director
- Assist Operations Director in development and monitoring of plant budget, operating plan, and development of Operators
- Continually develop knowledge of the project and renewable natural gas in general
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Director

Working Relationships
The O&M Supervisor reports to the Operations Director and supervises subordinate operations and maintenance personnel.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include the possibility of standing for extended periods of time, stair and ladder climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
Fitness for Duty
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
This position offers a Monday to Friday work schedule, during regular dayshift hours. Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
Compensation
The initial compensation range available for this position is $100,000 to $125,000 depending on applicable experience. If eligible, relocation assistance may be provided.
Job Qualifications
- A technical undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience is desired. Knowledge or training in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field desired.
- Anaerobic digestor experience desired, but not required
- Commissioning, Performance Testing and transition to Steady State Operations experience is a plus
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is desired, but not required. Maximo CMMS system experience is a plus
- Previous supervisory experience of hourly personnel desired
- Ability to manage and motivate subordinates
- Basic knowledge of SCADA and PLC systems
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to actively listen to others for understanding
- Must be able to quickly and accurately gather pertinent information and be able to communicate this information professionally and precisely
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to assess problems and situations, recommend a path forward and evaluate alternatives to resolve the problem
- Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
- Must be proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Projects)
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
