Ensure that material handlers are operating forklift and walkies safely at all times following all safety policies and procedures. This position reports to Cross Dock Supervisor.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Properly receive, unload, load shipments in/out of the cross dockExperience with WMS (warehouse management systems)Knowledge of QMS (quality management systems) and lean warehousingExperience operating material handling equipment and using an RF scannerFlexible to work 10 to 12 hour shifts when necessary and not afraid of heightsLoads and unloads RJW truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers equipmentMust comply with the company's safety policies while using lifting devices (forklifts and scissor lifts) and clean initiative standardsOversees storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the dock staging lanes or racksLearn day-to-day warehouse operationsVerify orders are complete and accurateUnload, load, and/or pick each customer order in the most effective manner possible to minimize shipping costs and insure product safetyOther tasks as assigned by supervisor or managerOperates forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and proceduresQualifications:2-4 years in a warehouse environmentGood stable work and attendance recordPossess a sense of urgency, accountability, and be able to work with limited supervisionGeneral understanding of computers and handheld RF equipmentAbility to work as part of a team and leadHe/she must be able to read, write, and understand EnglishAttention to detail and quality a mustGood communication, clear and concise, problem resolution, and people skillsFlexibility in working overtime when needed, and supplying coverage to other shiftsPC skills helpfulAbility to work in a fast-paced warehouseEducation and/or Experience Required:High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED)Warehousing certifications a plusExperience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent ordersExperienced in cross docking freight processLanguage Skills Sets:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulationsAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customersMathematical Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphsReasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective actionComputer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet softwarePhysical Demands:Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.Must be able to be on feet for full shift (8 hours).Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.
