Senior Electrical Engineer - Electro-Mechanical DesignQinetiQ US is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer - Electro-Mechanical Design - Senior to join our team supporting our Government Client in Reston, VA.Responsibilities include:Architect electro-mechanical design concepts in support of customer requirementsDevelop software and hardware devices and create detailed specificationsParticipate in product design reviews as both a technical assessor and presenterElectronics design from schematic capture and PCB layout, to test planning and implementationTest and troubleshoot prototypes and provide customer technical supportLead the development activities, including requirements gathering, concept development, hardware design, component selection, schematic design, circuit board layout, prototyping, and product integration testingDevelop system designs to optimize product size, weight, power, and costSupport and maintain existing productsCollaborate and implement designs with other project team membersWork closely with software engineers, product managers, and vendors to ensure successful project coordination and integrationValidate design by simulations and tests at a prototype levelTranslate user and customer needs into documented technical requirements and specificationsConduct technology feasibility studies as neededDesign and document test fixtures and test processesLiaise with multidisciplinary team members, customers, and suppliersRequired Qualifications include:Bachelor's degree in electro-mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering5 years of experience as a mechanical or electro-mechanical engineer or equivalent3 years of experience in electronic systems designExperience in 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeling tools (such as Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and SAP R3)Ability to design mechanical concepts, including capability to translate concepts into practical designs that meet specified requirementsFamiliarity with Agile engineering processExperience in multi-layer PCB design and microelectronic componentsExperience in embedded C or C-derived language development for microcontrollersComprehensive knowledge of full design lifecycle including specification design, test, and documentationExcellent proficiency in component level fault findingHigh/Low temperature electronics design experienceExperience with precision solderingCompetent in the design and simulation of analog and digital electronicsProficient in schematic capture (i.e. Altium) and PCB layoutAbility to read blueprints, schematics, assembly drawings, and wire listsAbility to use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and scalesExperience with high-density PCB layout and circuit layout toolsExperience with test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and multimetersExperience testing and troubleshooting software, C/C++ embedded systems, and PCB layoutEmbedded software development experienceLow power design (for battery powered devices) experienceFamiliar with RF communications and micro-electronic antenna technologyElectro-mechanical assembly skillsExperience with GITLAB, computer aided design (CAD; i.e. SolidWorks), MATLAB, or similar engineering toolsExperience with technical writing and creating documentationCurrent TS/SCI Clearance with CI poly, or ability to obtain poly prior to start dateSuccessful Completion of Pre-Employment Background Investigation requiredPreferred Qualifications include:Current TS/SCI Clearance with CI polyQinetiQ US is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
