Forms+Surfaces is seeking a summer intern from May 2024 through July 2024 to work in our Resource Management group as a Supply Chain Intern. This is a PAID internship based out of our Glenshaw, PA location. The rate varies based on experience, but generally $15-$18+ per hour. These internships may also count as co-op credits for some college programs. Our Resource Management Organization consists of logistics, sourcing, supply chain analytics and procurement professionals.


The Summer Internship is focused on three work streams, as follows:

Indirect Spend / Hardware Rationalization

  • Advance Forms+Surfaces’ Procurement goal of reducing the quantity of hardware and fastener SKU’s.
  • Hands on learning – first 1 to 2 weeks will be working in the plant, assembling products and learning how procured items are used in Forms+Surfaces’ manufacturing processes.
  • Study SKU data to learn hardware and fastener usages / application scenarios.
  • Identify opportunities for Bill of Material (BOM) changes to engineering and manufacturing which reduce SKU counts.
  • Work with Jr. Procurement Engineer colleague to create a highly detailed, Excel-based Forms+Surfaces’ Fasteners & Hardware catalog.
  • Provide Hardware catalog to design & engineering at the end of summer.

Indirect Spend / Cost Savings Reporting

  • Help build and update cost reporting tools.
  • Identify cost savings opportunities for Procurement Specialists to pursue.
  • Support Sr. Procurement Analysts with any required tasks.

General Procurement Tasks

  • Issue purchase orders for select requisitions, as required.
  • Contact suppliers, at the request of Procurement Specialists, to follow up on orders.


Qualifications/Criteria for Success:

  • Pursuing a Supply Chain degree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to research, gather and analyze technical information and data sets.
  • Ability to solve problems.
  • Willingness to collaborate with others in Engineering and Manufacturing disciplines.


Tools and Software:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup)
  • Ability to navigate an ERP system and web-based platforms, including SAAS.
