AccountantPosition Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our close-knit team of five, which includes a Controller, Accounts Payable Specialist, and CFO. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment and values accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.Key Responsibilities:Perform bank reconciliationsManage month-end closing processesPrepare and post journal entriesMaintain and reconcile general ledger accountsOversee software updates and improvements (Sage and Excel proficiency required)Ensure timely and accurate financial reportingEssential Skills:Proficiency in Sage accounting softwareAdvanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPStrong experience with bank reconciliations and month-end proceduresSolid understanding of journal entries and general ledger maintenancePreferred Qualifications:Experience implementing new accounting softwareAbility to work effectively in a small, collaborative teamWork Environment:This role is based in a blue-collar, industrial setting in Plantsville, CTsimilar to a junkyard environment. The office is functional and practical, with older facilities that reflect the nature of the business. Employees typically work 40 hours per week. Once permanent, the company offers a robust 401(k) plan. This position is ideal for someone who is comfortable in a non-glamorous, hands-on setting and values substance over style.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plantsville, CT.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
