Deputy SheriffMerced County is offering a full-time Deputy Sheriff position with a salary range of $74,838.40 to $99,840.00 annually. The job is located at Merced County Sheriffs Department, 2584 W. Sandy Mush Rd. or 700 W 22nd St., CA. The department is Sheriff - Operations.Examples of duties may include patrolling assigned areas, conducting preliminary investigations, testing for sobriety, and serving warrants. Other duties may include responding to death scenes, coordinating with law enforcement agencies, and maintaining firearms and equipment.Minimum QualificationsExperience: None at Level I, two (2) years of law enforcement work equivalent to Deputy Sheriff/Coroner I at Level II. Education: High school graduation or equivalence. Certification: Completion from a Basic P.O.S.T Academy and First Aid and CPR certificates. License: Valid California driver's license. Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen.Essential FunctionsEssential functions include responding to situations, physically restraining subjects, enforcing California laws, following senior staff directions, performing duties under stress, analyzing data, communicating effectively, maintaining confidentiality, and attending work regularly. Knowledge of Merced County geography, firearms, California Penal and Vehicle Codes, and other relevant laws is required. Ability to observe, interpret laws, write reports, and perform Deputy Sheriff duties is also essential.
