This position installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures involving circuits carrying less than 13,000 volts. The Electrician ensures compliance with NEC, OSHA, and safety standards while supporting classrooms, laboratories, residential halls, athletic facilities, and administrative buildings. The role is critical to campus operations, providing both preventive maintenance and immediate response to outages and emergencies.Reports to: Manager of Building Trades, Keith J Brown.Direct Reports: None.Budgetary Responsibility: Prepares estimates for labor, time, and materials.Authority: Provides guidance/training in electrical work to other staff; may lead projects.Required/Minimum Qualifications:Four years of progressively responsible experience in the electrical trade.Comprehensive knowledge of electrical theory, installation, repair, and maintenance.Knowledge of NEC codes, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.Ability to read/interpret blueprints and specifications.Skill in use/maintenance of tools and testing devices (ohmmeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).Ability to work on ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and in adverse environments.Possession of or eligibility for Maryland State certification as a licensed electrician.Valid non-commercial Class C driver's license.Preferred Qualifications:Higher education or facilities environment experience.Familiarity with industrial machinery, generators, motors, and climate control systems.Ability to lead projects and train junior staff.Additional Job Information:The position is a full-time, non-exempt state role with comprehensive benefits.Priority will be given to applicants who apply by November 25, 2025.
