We hold a leadership position in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (Duchenne) and are building a robust portfolio of programs across muscle, central nervous system, and cardiac diseases. In 2023, we launched our fourth therapy and the first ever gene therapy to treat Duchenne.We're looking for people who see unlimited potential in themselves and who are motivated by an unwavering commitment to patients.Reporting directly to the Vice President, Government Affairs & Policy, the Director, Federal Affairs will be responsible for developing, in close coordination with Government & Policy team, Sarepta's strategy at the federal level and communicating, advocating, and executing that strategy by engaging U.S. Congress, the Administration and working collaboratively with industry trade associations, coalitions, industry peers and other third-party partnersThe Opportunity to Make a DifferenceServe as a registered federal lobbyist and engages federal elected officials and their staff.Develop and drive implementation of Sarepta's government affairs engagement plan to shape a positive policy environment for achieving Sarepta's goals, as well as those to mitigate or prevent negative impacts.Monitor and assess the political climate related to rare disease and gene therapy policies to determine effects on the industry and Sarepta's near- and long-term goals.Represent the Company's interests through active participation on various trade association committees and coalitions.Develop and maintain a network of contacts at the Federal legislative level and among other public opinion leaders to ensure Sarepta's interests are reflected in important legislative environments, taking meetings independently as appropriate.Collaborate and coordinate across Sarepta and with its federal consultants in the development and execution of strategies and related activities.Draft memos, educational materials, and presentations detailing the impact of federal legislation and policy on the company's business, as well as the Federal Government Affairs strategy.Educate internal stakeholders on federal legislative and administrative policy proposals that could impact Sarepta.Manage federal political action committee, including development of solicitation, donation, and employee engagement strategies.Ensure Sarepta is compliant with lobbying disclosure rules.Required knowledge of a variety of issues will be necessary within scope of responsibility and may include, but are not limited to, Medicaid, federal appropriations, PDUFA, 21st Century Cures, newborn screening, pharmaceutical reimbursement, 340B Program policy, corporate tax and other healthcare or corporate issues that impact the pharmaceutical industry.More about YouMinimum of 10 years current and relevant experience in federal government affairs/policyBachelor's degree required in science, political science, government or public policyExperience dealing with federal healthcare legislative, regulatory, policy, and political issuesDirect lobbying experience requiredDemonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with members and their staff of the legislature, administration and other government and non-government policy leadersKnowledge of the federal government's legislative and regulatory systemsInnovative thinker, strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skillsA high level of energy and passion toward patients, science and good policyProven teamwork and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, industry trade associations, and influential policy organizationsAttention to detail and an ability to recognize issues in the context of higher-level policies and regulationsSelf-initiating, well-organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and independentlyWe're always looking for solution-oriented, critical thinkers.
