Opportunity Description

The Clinical Consultant will be responsible for providing consultative support and insights for internal and external clients on pharmacy strategy and solutions. The Clinical Consultant is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders including the Client Management and Consulting Operations teams, as well as external brokers, clients and PBMs. Furthermore, the Clinical Consultant will assist in the development of new and innovative pharmacy consulting and analytics enhancements that support the overall Prism value propositions.

These responsibilities will also include fielding routine to complex requests related to our Client Partner’s pharmacy strategy and plan performance, identification of industry trends, analyzing complex problems, and supporting delivery of analysis findings. The Clinical Consultant will be required to maintain a high degree of quality in deliverables through accuracy, responsiveness, reliability, and professionalism during every interaction in an extremely fast-paced environment. The Clinical Consultant is a client facing role and will be responsible for effectively communicating complex insights to a wide range of audiences.

  

Roles & Responsibilities

·         Support meetings with high profile clients and brokers to act as the clinical subject matter expert.

·         Support development of ad-hoc analysis of pharmacy claims utilization in order to provide clients with proactive consultation, as well as manage follow-up questions that may arise.

·         Educate and consistently advance the knowledge of pharmacy within the organization. This includes deep dives on our products and services, as well as championing marketing campaigns that are delivered to industry partners.

·         Attest and commit to putting forth independent thought leadership, humility, authenticity, and dedicated stewardship to client partners, members / patients, internal and external partners;

·         Communicate effectively, delivering multi-modal messages that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of the different audiences requiring interaction. Proactively anticipate communication needs in order to remove ambiguity.

·         Gather and share relevant competitive intelligence in support of retention and new sales efforts.

·         Act as the clinical subject matter expert supporting Business Development, Client Management and Consulting Operations teams.

·         Stay abreast of clinical pharmacy practice guidelines, including the new drug pipeline, biosimilars, gene therapies, upcoming patent expirations, etc. and proactively create education plans on subjects to internal and external partners.

·         Provide executive support for pricing, audit, and contract questions, as requested by internal partners managing these efforts.

·         Translate pharmacy coverage rules and formulary decisions presented by PBM partners

·         Assist with recommendations on benefit design based on industry trends;

·         Serve as a client facing representative and an ancillary pharmacy resource for Client Management Team.


Core Competencies & Qualifications

·         Clinical pharmacy background required; R.Ph. or Pharm.D. or similar qualification required;

·         Seven (7) years’ experience in a pharmacy / healthcare related field, i.e., business management, finance, accounting, analytics, consulting, information technology (IT), or related field;

·         Five (5) years of experience and understating of the PBM (pharmacy benefit management) industry;

·         Demonstrated ability and desire to respectfully challenge and engage internal and external partners through persuasive, yet authentic dialogue;

·         Strong written and verbal presentation skills that assertively and respectfully communicates challenging concepts, products, and solutions;

·         Cross collaborative experience with small, medium, large medical carriers, third party administrators (TPAs), and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs);

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint (advanced knowledge in Excel a plus);

·         Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization, resourceful, critical thinking, and time management skills.

·         Strong moral compass to always do what’s best for the Client Partner, Patient, and those impacted downstream by the work we’re responsible for.
