Pancreatic Cancer Postdoctoral Researcher
The project focuses on Pancreatic Cancer RNA biology research investigating the function of post-transcriptional gene regulation in tumor growth, focusing on RNA-related structure-function modeling. To identify the pathophysiological mechanisms and therapeutic targets particular to Pancreatic Cancer, the lab combines animal models with pathological and immunological analyses, as well as cutting-edge technologies such as targeted gene expression studies and global gene expression profiling, such as RNAseq, single-cell RNA-seq, RIP-seq, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics. The candidates will participate in one of our fascinating research projects and are anticipated to have training in biochemistry, molecular biology, and mouse genetics. They should also have strong interpersonal skills for teamwork.
A postdoctoral researcher in cancer research may perform a variety of duties, including:
- Research design
Design and conduct experiments, develops, adapts, and implements new research techniques and protocols. And work with the Principal Investigator (PI) to develop hypotheses
- Laboratory work
Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, such as working with mice, and use molecular biology techniques
- Data analysis
Analyze, interpret, and summarize data, and keep detailed records of experiments
- Presentations
Participate in presentations and publications as an author or co-author, and present findings to the scientific community
- Collaboration
Collaborate with other lab members and group members on research projects, and mentor junior lab members
- Grant proposals
Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and use communication skills to present ideas to donors or academic officials. Not responsible for generating grant funds.
- Teaching
Teach techniques and train research staff
The expectation is that PostDocs will collaborate with the Bioinformatics team, Dr. Hingorani, and the Wetlab support team to drive deeper discussions and insights, accelerating therapeutic innovation and novel drug discovery, and greater efficiencies.
To Best gauge Candidates we anticipate that the following research paper will provide you with the details and insights which drive our scientific experimentation direction and focus every day:
This approach and much of the science underlying it can be best described in a recent Nature Cancer Review article by Dr. Hingorani entitled Epithelial and stromal co-evolution and complicity in pancreatic cancer
